This building was once the warehouse of the hardware wholesaler "Kamaya," which flourished from the Meiji through the Taisho and Showa eras.
This storehouse is one of three that stood side by side—the shop storehouse, the stone storehouse, and the brick storehouse—built by master carpenters of the time who employed both Japanese and Western architectural techniques. In the attic on the second floor, the date of completion and the name of the master carpenter "Torakichi Mimori" are still preserved today.
