The poet Kusano Shinpei (1903–1988) was deeply moved by the people and nature of Kawauchi Village in Futaba District and visited Kawauchi almost every year. Kawauchi Village conferred on Shinpei the title of Honorary Village Resident, and later, prompted by his donation of 3,000 volumes to the village, the Tenzan Bunko was built in the village to house his collection. This exhibition, marking the 60th anniversary of the Tenzan Bunko’s establishment, presents Shinpei’s ties with Kawauchi Village and works related to the village.

“The Japanese Scientists Who Won the Nobel Prize” is a traveling exhibition from the National Museum of Nature and Science, “Inventions in Everyday Life” is presented with the cooperation of the Fukushima Prefecture Invention Association (General Incorporated Association). Both the Nobel Prize and inventions were born from the desire to make everyday life more convenient and more enriching. We will introduce not only the research achievements of Japanese Nobel laureates to date, but also episodes from their childhood, so you can feel closer to the recipients. As part of the Sensho-ji Plum Blossom Illumination, we will host a concert by a Hawaiian band. Iwaki City is known as a place where hula culture has taken root, as symbolized by the film “Hula Girls.” The performing group Ekolu Mau Kani is a Hawaiian band based in Iwaki. Its members include performers with experience at Spa Resort Hawaiians, and Ms. Haruka, who was also active as a Hula Girl, will be joining. Hawaiian music resonating through the historic religious space of the main hall.
